Gautam Buddh Nagar police launched extensive checks at about a dozen Noida schools after receiving bomb threats on Monday.

Police in Gautam Buddh Nagar said bomb threats were reported at several schools in Noida on Monday, prompting the deployment of bomb disposal squads, dog units, police personnel and fire department teams.

According to the police public relations officer, security checks are underway at the affected locations. The PRO quoted the police statement: “Schools have received bomb threats in Gautam Buddh Nagar on Monday. Bomb disposal teams, dog squads, police officials and fire department teams have been deployed at the sites as security checks are carried out.”

The threats follow three earlier hoax incidents this year – January 23 emails to about 20 schools before Republic Day, February 19 threats to 18 schools during board exams, and a July 13 threat at the District Magistrate’s office in Greater Noida – all of which resulted in extensive checks but no genuine devices.
