Zurich Insurance Group and Zurich International Life released a Personal Resilience Index on October 7, showing the United Arab Emirates scoring 4.25 against a global average of 4.11.

What happened

The index, built on responses from more than 11,000 people in 16 markets, surveyed 973 residents in the UAE. It evaluates resilience across psychological, physical, social, financial and digital drivers.

According to Gulf News, the UAE outperformed the global average on all five drivers, with physical and social resilience identified as its strongest areas. Confidence, belonging and leadership were cited as key foundations.

Matthew Whitehouse, Head of Corporate Life and Pensions at Zurich International Life, told Gulf News that employers have a responsibility and incentive to protect resilience, noting that financial preparedness is the UAE’s weakest point.

The study was developed with Oxford Research and Development Partners and aligns with the UAE’s National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031, which emphasizes quality of life and community resilience.
