Two masked men forced entry into a house on Station Road in Thurnby, Leicestershire just before 12.30 am on Thursday, assaulting a 15‑year‑old boy and his father, a man in his 50s, who remain in hospital in life‑threatening condition, according to the Independent.
What happened
Officers were called after reports of the intrusion and arrived after the attackers had fled. The boy’s mother and the man’s wife, a woman in her 40s, suffered minor injuries to a hand and shoulder and have since been discharged. Three other children in the house were unharmed.
What the reports add
Detective Inspector Lorna Granville of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit described the attack as "completely unprovoked" and said investigators are trying to determine a motive.
What was said
Granville appealed for anyone who saw or heard anything between 11 pm Wednesday and the early hours of Thursday, or who has dash‑cam, CCTV or doorbell footage, to contact police, noting that even seemingly insignificant information could help locate the perpetrators.
How it came about
The Independent report does not provide a motive, and Leicestershire Police continue to investigate the incident.
