Lake Police in Karimnagar say the CCTV cameras installed at Lower Manair Dam (LMD) have been out of service for several months, limiting their ability to monitor illegal activities and rescue operations.

What happened

The dam outpost, established on 10 October 2017, deployed a sub‑inspector, seven constables, a drone, binoculars, bicycles and walkie‑talkies, alongside CCTV units intended for round‑the‑clock monitoring. Since installation, the cameras have stopped working, according to reserve sub‑inspector and outpost in‑charge B. Ramesh.

What was said

Ramesh told Deccan Chronicle that he tried to repair about 16 cameras but was unsuccessful, and that the police now plan to replace them with new units funded by philanthropists.
