Three men – aged 18, 19 and 20 – were arrested after allegedly assaulting two women in separate home invasions in Sydney’s south‑west, The Sydney Morning Herald reported on 2 Oct 2026.
What happened
The first alleged break‑in occurred just after midnight on 1 Sept 2026 at a unit on Jacobs Street, Bankstown, where a 32‑year‑old woman was assaulted and money was taken. A month later, on 2 Oct 2026, the trio allegedly entered a home on Marinea Street, Arncliffe, threatened a 31‑year‑old woman with a knife, robbed her and the 19‑year‑old allegedly sexually assaulted her twice. Both victims were taken to hospital for minor injuries.
What the reports add
Police identified the suspects as Chawkat Ibrahim El Cheikh (20), Arman Nangyal (19) and Adam Fakhouri (18). El Cheikh was arrested in Belmore and charged with aggravated break‑and‑enter, deprivation of liberty, choking offences, common assault and use of an offensive weapon. Nangyal was arrested in Punchbowl and faced similar charges plus aggravated sex‑assault and failure to comply with a digital‑evidence order; he was on conditional release at the time of the alleged crimes. Fakhouri was arrested in Greenacre and charged with aggravated break‑and‑enter, robbery, choking and assault offences. All three were refused bail pending court appearances.
What was said
Reporters Amber Schultzis and Riley Walteris noted that detectives believe the victims were targeted because they were sex workers, a factor that may make them hesitant to report assaults. The article also listed support numbers for sexual‑assault victims.
