Flydubai, Etihad extend Saudi flight cancellations

Both carriers added more flights to the cancellation list as attacks on Saudi airports continue.

By Felo News Desk · Published

UAE airlines Flydubai and Etihad Airways announced on Monday that they are extending flight cancellations to Saudi Arabia amid ongoing Houthi attacks on the kingdom’s airports.

What happened

Flydubai said flights to Abha, Dammam and Riyadh are cancelled up to and including 14 October. Etihad extended cancellations on routes between Abu Dhabi and Dammam, Jeddah and Riyadh for 12 and 13 October, adding specific flight numbers that were withdrawn on each day.

What the reports add

The airline statement noted that the situation remains dynamic and further schedule changes are possible. Flydubai advised customers to use its “Manage Your Booking” portal for refunds or re‑booking, and to contact travel agents if bookings were made through them. Etihad listed the exact services cancelled, such as EY575, EY573, EY576 and EY574 to Dammam, EY601‑EY604 to Jeddah, and EY559‑EY560 to Riyadh on 12 October, with additional flights removed on 13 October.

What was said

A Flydubai spokesperson said, “We continue to monitor the situation closely and we will update our customers through our official channels regarding any amendments to our flight schedules,” in a statement released on Monday.

How it came about

The cancellations follow a series of Houthi‑claimed strikes on Saudi airports, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which have forced multiple carriers to suspend services and warn passengers of further disruptions. Earlier this week, Flydubai had already halted flights to Riyadh, Yanbu and Abha until 10‑11 October, as reported in Felo’s coverage. Etihad had previously cancelled Abu Dhabi‑Riyadh flights through 12 October, per another Felo article.
