Sharjah’s Fili Poultry Farm has become the first farm in the United Arab Emirates to receive the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology’s free‑range label, according to Khaleej Times.

The farm, part of the Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Establishment (Ektifa), meets the ministry’s approved requirements and standards for free‑range production.

Dr Farah Al Zarooni, assistant under‑secretary for the Standards Affairs Sector, said the label will strengthen consumer confidence in UAE products and support their competitiveness in local and international markets, linking the certification to the country’s industrial strategy and the Make it in the Emirates initiative.

Feed for the slow‑growing chickens is a special mixture created by Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah, that includes organic wheat, corn, soybeans, turmeric and plant‑based oils infused with garlic, wild thyme, oregano, eucalyptus and frankincense.

Dr Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, chairman of Sharjah’s Department of Agriculture and Livestock and chief executive of Ektifa, said the label reflects the farm’s commitment to poultry care, production practices and internationally approved quality standards.
