U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel between Oct. 17 and Oct. 22 to lead a commercial delegation of more than 200 business leaders to Central Asia and India, the State Department announced on Tuesday.
Rubio will first attend a C5+1 ministerial meeting in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, and hold bilateral talks with officials from Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. After the Central Asian leg, he will spend time in Mumbai and Jamnagar, India, meeting senior government officials and business leaders to discuss the U.S.-India strategic partnership and energy cooperation.
The visit follows a previous U.S. official trip to India in May and a White House meeting last November where President Donald Trump hosted leaders of the five Central Asian nations.
