India's under‑17 women's football team thrashed Malaysia 4‑0 on Tuesday, October 11, 2026, to top Group E and clinch a second consecutive berth in the 2027 Women’s Asia Cup in China, according to News18.

The Tigresses needed only a draw to qualify. Redima Chingkhamayum opened the scoring in the 28th minute, followed by Pritika Barman in the 50th, Anushka Kumari in the 56th and Nidhi in the 86th minute.

The victory caps a flawless qualifying campaign in which India recorded three wins, scored 20 goals and kept a clean sheet. Earlier in the round, the side beat Iraq 14‑0 – the biggest win ever for an Indian U‑17 women’s team – and defeated Syria 2‑0.

Malaysia entered the match after a 1‑0 win over Syria and a 4‑0 victory over Iraq, showing they were not pushovers, but could not match India’s firepower.

Coach Joakim Alexandersson said before the game, "Even if people outside think we are the favourites, we must always stay humble, whoever we are facing. In every sport, you have to be humble and respect the opponent." He added, "Self‑confidence is important, but you also have to do the hard work in the games. As long as we stick to our principles and try to work harder than the opponent, I feel we have a good advantage."

With the qualification secured, India will join defending champion DPR Korea, Japan, Australia and host China – who qualified automatically – along with seven other group‑toppers for the 2027 tournament.
