Deion Sanders says leaked Colorado playbook didn’t affect Texas Tech loss

Sanders said the script leak was irrelevant after Colorado fell 29-7 to Texas Tech on Oct. 3.

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders downplayed a leaked playbook that surfaced before the Buffaloes’ 29-7 loss to Texas Tech on Oct. 3, telling the New York Post that the script “didn’t work.”

Sanders said he had seen similar leaks at both the professional and collegiate levels and that the timing of the leak – posted on a message board at a Colorado team hotel in Broomfield – did not change the game’s outcome. He noted the team scored on the opening drive, which he felt contradicted any advantage the opponent might have gained.

According to the report, Sanders questioned the authenticity of a playbook left behind, suggesting the opposing coach could have planted it as a “dummy script.” He added that he sees no reason to investigate further, stating, “Why would we? It’s over. Game’s over.”

The loss marked Colorado’s third straight defeat and left the Buffs at 2‑3 overall, still seeking their first Big 12 win. Their next challenge is an upcoming game against undefeated No. 11 Utah.
