Texas A&M head football coach Mike Elko issued an apology on Monday after referring to the local fan site TexAgs as a “cesspool” in a post‑game interview following the Aggies’ 27‑6 defeat to Missouri on Saturday.

Elko told reporters he has a “tremendous relationship” with TexAgs co‑owner Billy Liucci, noting they have been on good terms since 2018. He said, “I appreciate Billy…there’s nothing about him and I that have ever been off.” He added that the comment was taken the wrong way, stating, “I regret the way it was taken…that certainly was never my intention.”

The coach emphasized personal accountability, saying, “I am the reason why this team is struggling…It’s my job to figure out how to get it better.” The remarks came after Texas A&M fell to 3‑3 overall and 1‑3 in SEC play, dropping from a preseason No. 8 ranking and missing touchdowns in both the Missouri and LSU losses.

TexAgs founder Liucci responded critically, while ESPN’s Max Olson highlighted the site’s role as the largest daily coverage outlet for the Aggies, noting its message board and NIL partnerships. The loss leaves the Aggies with upcoming games against Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Texas, intensifying scrutiny of Elko’s program.
