Prime Video announced on Monday that the action series Reacher will return for a sixth season, while the fifth season remains in production. The decision follows the strong performance of the fourth season, which Amazon said attracted 66 million viewers globally within 28 days of its launch on 12 August. The eight‑episode season concluded on 16 September and is now among the top five most‑viewed Prime Video originals.
Since its 2022 debut, Reacher has consistently been one of the platform’s biggest shows. Prime Video’s early renewal strategy began with season three, which was ordered two weeks before season two premiered in December 2023. The new renewal will make the series Prime Video’s second longest‑running scripted series, behind Bosch and tied with Invincible, both of which have also been picked up through a sixth season.
Lead actor Alan Ritchson, who portrays the titular character, has praised the show’s ability to translate Lee Child’s novels to the screen. Head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios, Peter Friedlander, said the series “hits hard” and that the creative team has delivered an “incredible” performance that has captivated audiences worldwide.
Prime Video has also released the first season of the Reacher spinoff Neagley, starring Maria Sten, and continues to expand its original slate with new Australian content and true‑crime documentaries.
