President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the Saras Aajeevika Mela‑2026 at Punnami Ghat in Vijayawada on October 15, according to Deccan Chronicle.
The event, coordinated with central and state governments, will host more than 600 stalls run by women members of self‑help groups (SHGs) from across India. A food court will showcase regional cuisines and cultural programmes will run throughout the fair.
Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandrasekhar and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) inspected the venue on Saturday, saying the mela will help SHG entrepreneurs connect with customers and build distinctive brands.
Kesineni linked the fair to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s push for household entrepreneurship and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Lakhpati Didi scheme, which seeks financial independence for women through self‑employment.
