Visakhapatnam – On Saturday, members of multiple public organisations gathered at the Komarada mandal headquarters in Parvathipuram Manyam district and burned an effigy of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, according to deccanchronicle.com.
The protesters alleged that the commissioner’s actions, particularly the reported deletion of names from electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), have eroded public confidence in the electoral system. Leaders said the right to vote is a fundamental democratic right and demanded greater transparency from the Election Commission.
Among the participants were CITU district vice‑president Wakada Indira, Andhra Pradesh Vyvasaya Karmikula Sangham district treasurer Kolli Sambamurthy, and other local leaders such as Reddy Shivani Naidu and Anuradha. They warned they would intensify agitation and continue peaceful protests if their demands are not met, urging the central government and constitutional authorities to intervene.
