The wide receiver's breakout performance came after a high‑ankle sprain sidelined him for four weeks.

Omar Cooper Jr. recorded six receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown in the New York Jets' 26‑19 loss to the New England Patriots on Oct. 18, 2026, according to the New York Post.
Cooper returned after missing the first four weeks with a high‑ankle sprain that landed him on injured reserve following a 30‑yard catch in the Week 1 win over the Tennessee Titans. In the Patriots game, he caught a 48‑yard touchdown pass from Geno Smith in the third quarter, the only Jets score.
"It was a great feeling," Cooper said. "It felt good to finally be back out there." He added that the earlier Titans catch helped restore his confidence.
Geno Smith praised Cooper, saying, "I think Omar did a tremendous job of coming back from injury, fought just to get back out there. What he did is showcase who he is. He's a playmaker. He's a guy who finds ways to make catches, and the tough catches, he makes them look easy. Really impressed with the way that he performed and looking forward to building on that," as reported by the Post.
Cooper and fellow rookie Kenyon Sadiq became the third Jets rookie tandem to each post a 100‑yard receiving game in a season, joining Rich Caster and Eddie Bell (1970) and Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall (2022).
