Nepali officials urged villagers to evacuate after a landslide in Chumnubri village, Gorkha district, blocked the Budhi Gandaki River and caused downstream flooding, Daily Times reported on Oct. 11.
Gorkha senior bureaucrat Dharmendra Kumar Mishra told residents along the riverbanks to move to safer locations, noting that the flood swept away about a dozen houses and two suspension bridges. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority’s head, Dharam Raj Uprety, said water levels continued to rise, damaging a highway bridge to Dhading district and a camp at a nearby hydro‑electric project. Nepal’s army rescued six people from Jagat, and police and army teams deployed to support operations. Evacuation alerts were issued for Gorkha, Tanahun, Chitwan, East Nawalparasi and West Nawalparasi districts.
