Nayara Energy lifts petrol by Rs 5 and diesel by Rs 3 per litre
The private retailer’s hike comes as crude oil prices stay high and rating agency Icra warns of widening marketing losses.

Nayara Energy announced a Rs 5 per litre increase for petrol and a Rs 3 per litre rise for diesel, marking the second identical hike this year. The revision follows a March 26 increase that was later withdrawn on July 1 after crude prices fell and West Asian tensions eased.
Private fuel retailers are under pressure from rising crude costs, whereas state‑owned Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation have largely left pump prices unchanged. The government asked private outlets on Oct 1 not to restrict sales.
Jio‑bp, a joint venture between Reliance Industries and UK‑based bp, operates 2,304 pumps but has not matched the price rise. Rating agency Icra estimates oil marketers lose about Rs 530 crore daily in September, with negative margins of roughly Rs 8‑9 per litre for petrol and diesel.
