Star Wars legend Mark Hamill, 75, appears in a surprise cameo as a fortune‑teller in episode six of Amazon Prime Video’s new series Carrie, according to the show’s creator Mike Flanagan.
What happened
Hamill’s brief appearance shows him with one eye half‑closed, a mustache and a beard, portraying a mystic character who interacts with the titular heroine. The cameo occurs in the sixth episode of the Amazon Prime Video adaptation of Stephen King’s 1974 novel.
What the reports add
Flanagan told People that Hamill was "so excited to just come out for half a day" to film the scene. He also said Hamill asked that his involvement be kept secret until the episode aired. The creator described working with Hamill as "so fun" and called the experience "a blast."
What was said
"He was so excited to just come out for half a day," Flanagan told People, adding that Hamill wanted the cameo to be a surprise. The showrunner also said, "I just love the man," and noted that they have previously collaborated on the 2023 horror mini‑series The Fall of the House of Usher and the 2024 sci‑fi film Life of Chuck.
How it came about
Flanagan and Hamill’s prior work together on The Fall of the House of Usher and Life of Chuck set the stage for the cameo. The Carrie series, starring Summer Howell as the title character, adapts King’s novel and follows her dealing with family trauma and telekinetic powers.
