Mancherial forest department to host 30‑km eco‑marathon on Sunday

Around 300 participants from five Indian states and abroad will run a route through grasslands, a quarry and Gandhari Khilla.

Mancherial, Telangana – The Mancherial forest department will organise a forest marathon on Sunday, 5 am‑11 am, to promote eco‑tourism and biodiversity conservation, Deccan Chronicle reported.

Divisional forest officer Rahul Kishan Jadhav said nearly 300 nature lovers and runners from Telangana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and other countries have registered.

The 30‑km course will pass grasslands, a quarry area and Gandhari Khilla on the town’s outskirts. Participants will receive T‑shirts, certificates and medals; saplings will be planted in their names. Three categories are planned: a 5‑km run for children over eight, a 10‑km run for those over 14 and the 30‑km run for adults 18 and older. Drinking water and medical camps will be on site.
