LAFC Parts Ways With Coach Marc Dos Santos After 11‑9‑8 Season
The club, sitting sixth in the Western Conference, said it will begin a search for a new manager immediately.

Los Angeles FC announced on Sunday that it had fired head coach Marc Dos Santos, ending his first season at the helm after a 13‑game slump that left the club with only two wins in its last 13 matches. The decision came less than 24 hours after a 1‑0 loss to FC Dallas that dropped LAFC to sixth place in the Western Conference.
In a statement, president of soccer operations John Thorrington thanked Dos Santos for his “commitment, care and contributions” to the club and wished him and his family “all the best moving forward.” The club said it would begin a search for a new manager immediately but did not name an interim coach for the next match on Oct 10, after the two‑week FIFA international break.
Coaching Background
Dos Santos, 49, had been an assistant on Bob Bradley’s staff in LAFC’s inaugural 2018 season and later coached the Vancouver Whitecaps to a 22‑39‑20 record over 2 ½ years. He returned to LAFC as an assistant in 2022, helping the club win the Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup under Steve Cherundolo. When Cherundolo stepped down after last season, Dos Santos was promoted to head coach two weeks later.
Season Performance
LAFC finished the season with an 11‑9‑8 record and 41 points, having won only two of its last ten games and drawing four. The club’s roster features high‑profile players such as Son Heung‑Min and Denis Bouanga, but the team has struggled to convert talent into results.
