Actor Kevin Bacon posted a video on Instagram on Friday, saying a box of his personal vintage clothing has not yet reached him in Ireland after a series of misdirected shipments.
What happened
Bacon explained that the parcel left upstate New York on 26 September, travelled to Memphis, Tennessee, then flew to France. By 28 September it arrived in Germany, and on 29 September it was sent to Israel instead of Ireland. The package shuttled back to France on 3 October, returned to Israel on 4 October, moved to Germany on 5 October, and again to Israel on 6 October. On 10 October it reached France, and on 11 October it arrived in the United Kingdom. Bacon said the box was finally sent from the UK to Ireland, where it has been sitting for five days without delivery.
What was said
In the video Bacon said, “I wanted to pack light, so I decided to ship some old clothes over here to Ireland,” and added, “I don’t buy a lot of clothes; I’ve had these clothes probably since the 90s.” He expressed frustration, stating, “I don’t understand why… it’s just sitting there. I can’t get a person on the phone.” Bacon also noted the sentimental value of the items, saying, “I’ve had them since the 90s… old boots, old jeans, old hats.”
FedEx response
FedEx issued a statement to The Independent, saying, “We sincerely apologize for this experience. We are in direct contact with Mr. Bacon’s team to deliver the package. This outcome should have happened sooner, and we are reviewing what went wrong to help ensure we deliver the level of service our customers expect and deserve.”
