The new Mac‑only app transcribes conversations without sending data to the cloud.

Google introduced AI Edge Foresight, a note‑taking application that runs locally on macOS, CNET reported on October 8.

What happened

Foresight launched this week and can transcribe audio from Google Meet, Zoom, PDFs, Google Docs, Microsoft Office files, plain‑text, Markdown and web bookmarks. It creates polished notes from bullet points and can answer questions using the transcript and linked files.

What the reports add

CNET noted that the app works offline, uses low battery power and offers a Live Assistance feature for automatic question answering. It also supports custom labels, filtering and searching without relying on cloud services.

What was said

Google said the tool processes transcription and audio on the computer and that personal information, recordings or transcripts never leave the device.

How it came about

This launch follows Google’s recent AI‑focused initiatives, including its South African accelerator programme and the Project Suncatcher satellite, both covered by Felo News.
