Sony announced the ECM‑AX10, a compact USB‑C microphone aimed at vloggers, mobile filmmakers and other content creators. The device, described as the world’s first Eclipsa Audio‑certified mic for smartphones, can record ambisonic, binaural and stereo sound.

Four omnidirectional capsules provide four‑channel 48 kHz/32‑bit float ambisonic capture, while binaural recording runs at 48 kHz with up to 32‑bit depth and can be rendered as 360 Reality Audio. Stereo mode operates as standard two‑channel audio. The mic includes a selfie mode, an attenuator switch that reduces sensitivity by 20 dBFS, noise‑cut controls, a 3‑axis gyroscope and accelerometer, a 3.5 mm monitoring jack, a windscreen, a shoe‑mount holder and a USB‑C extension cable.

Weighing 24 g, the ECM‑AX10 retails for $249.99 and is available for preorder as of 8 October 2026.
