Fadhel Al Ali appointed chairman of Dubai Islamic Bank
The UAE's largest Islamic lender announced the appointment effective 30 September 2026.

Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) said on Wednesday that Fadhel Abdulbaqi Al Ali will assume the role of chairman of its board of directors on 30 September 2026, replacing Mohammed Ibrahim Al‑Shaibani, who stepped down on 20 September for personal reasons.
Al Ali brings more than three decades of experience in corporate governance, banking, investment, real estate and hospitality. He currently chairs the Dubai Financial Services Authority and Majid Al Futtaim Capital, and sits on the board of the Commercial International Bank of Egypt. His past positions include chief executive of Dubai Holding and deputy chief executive and group chief operating officer of First Abu Dhabi Bank.
DIB, established in 1975 and listed on the Dubai Financial Market, is the UAE’s largest Islamic bank by assets, with over $115 billion in assets, a market capitalisation exceeding $18 billion, about 12,000 employees and more than 540 branches across the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
