President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that wars across the Middle East are causing cross‑border environmental devastation.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told an international environmental summit in Armenia on Friday that the wars raging across the Middle East constitute “environmental genocide.”

Speaking to attendees that included United Nations Secretary‑General António Guterres, Pezeshkian said the damage to air, water, land and natural resources extends beyond the combat zones and threatens neighbouring communities.

He urged the global community to condemn the ecological impact of the conflicts and to cooperate on coordinated solutions to mitigate the cross‑border consequences.

The remarks came amid ongoing fighting in Gaza and other parts of the region, which officials say have already disrupted ecosystems, water supplies and land quality.
