Iran accuses Britain of fueling Middle East instability

Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson blames the UK for regional insecurity after Britain linked Tehran to a suspected plot near an air base.

Iran’s foreign ministry accused Britain of playing a “destructive role” and fueling insecurity across the Middle East, responding to UK claims that Tehran was involved in a suspected plot near RAF Fairford air base, according to Gulf News.

Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the British government was shifting blame and distorting reality, and that “unlawful interventions” backed by Britain were causing regional chaos. He also charged British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband with reversing the roles of victim and aggressor.

Britain had said the alleged plot demonstrated the Revolutionary Guard’s willingness to project hostile activity beyond Iran’s borders through covert networks and proxy actors. Iran denied the allegation, calling it a “clumsy false flag operation” and summoned British ambassador Hugo Shorter to protest.
