His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued Law No. 20 of 2026 establishing the Dubai Orchestra Foundation, Gulf News said on Oct. 9.
What happened
The law creates a foundation tasked with developing Dubai’s music scene, preserving Emirati musical heritage and showcasing artistic talent. It will set up a local orchestra, organise performances at home and abroad, and produce an annual calendar of musical events.
What the reports add
According to the outlet, the foundation will also support emerging talent, including People of Determination, and expand music education and production opportunities. It will host international orchestras and forge partnerships with cultural organisations worldwide.
What was said
The Gulf News article quotes the decree but does not include direct statements from officials.
How it came about
The initiative follows Dubai’s broader strategy to strengthen its position as a regional and international cultural destination and to grow its creative economy and cultural tourism sector, building on recent cultural launches such as the ARMAF fragrance show at Beautyworld Dubai earlier this month.
