Journey drummer Deen Castronovo was taken to hospital after a medical emergency during the band’s Thursday concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, according to the Independent.
After two songs, Castronovo left the stage and keyboardist Jonathan Cain told the audience, “We’re going to see what happens as this progresses…please have your prayers ready for Deen Castronovo.” Guitarist Neal Schon announced the drummer’s hospitalization and said drum tech Steve Toomey would fill in, adding the concert would resume in about 15 minutes. Lead singer Arnel Pineda asked the crowd to pray and reassured them, “He’s gonna be fine. Too much Gatorade.” The show continued with the substitute drummer.
