Today show sports presenter Danika Mason announced on Friday morning that she is going on maternity leave and will not return to the programme after the birth.
"Bit of news from me… I’m going on maternity leave," Mason said on air, adding that she had to decide whether to juggle her NRL commitments, the Today show and a new baby.
The announcement follows three other high‑profile departures from the Today show since June, including Karl Stefanovic’s contract termination, Sarah Abo’s exit and weather presenter Tim Davies leaving in August.
Mason joined the Today show in May 2025 after a decade as Nine’s NRL and sports presenter. She revealed her pregnancy in July and is married to former NRL prop Liam Knight.
