Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were released on Sunday after being produced before the executive magistrate, according to newindianexpress.com.
What happened
The three were placed under preventive arrest when their flight from Mumbai landed at Delhi’s IGI airport on Saturday. Police invoked sections 126 and 170 of the BNSS, citing security concerns ahead of a planned protest at Jantar Mantar. They were taken from the aircraft and detained inside a police‑controlled area.
What the reports add
The New Indian Express notes that the Delhi Police posted on X that the arrest was carried out on 10 Oct 2026 and that the leaders were produced before the SEM Court on 11 Oct 2026. The court required a Rs 50,000 bail bond as a surety for “maintaining peace and good behaviour” for one year, after which the leaders were released.
What was said
CJP legal affairs head Ratna Singh confirmed on X that the three leaders had been released. In a video, Dipke accused the police of acting out of “fear of Narendra Modi” and compared the action to the Emergency, saying, “We are not afraid of you.”
How it came about
The arrests occurred amid a city‑wide security clampdown that saw over 7,000 protesters detained and more than 30,000 police and paramilitary personnel deployed. Earlier, the CJP had warned that the protest at Jantar Mantar would proceed despite police denial of permission.
