BRS calls for uninterrupted agricultural power after Karimnagar protest

BRS leaders and farmers protested in Karimnagar, demanding at least four hours of uninterrupted power for crops.

Karnataka: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged a rasta roko with farmers in Durshad of Karimnagar rural mandal on Sunday, urging the Telangana government to provide a reliable agricultural power supply. MLA Gangula Kamalakar said crops are suffering because power is supplied for less than four hours, forcing farmers to run pump sets intermittently, which burns the equipment and increases costs. He also cited El Niño warnings that the state ignored, and asked for compensation of ₹20,000 per acre for Kharif crops and ₹30,000 for Rabi season. Kamalakar warned that without quality electricity, farmers face crop withering, health problems from heat, and added financial burdens.
