Marcus Blackmore, son of the late Blackmores founder Maurice Blackmore, and his wife Caroline have listed one of their two homes on Bayview, Sydney, with a price guide of $13 million to $14.3 million, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
What happened
The three‑bedroom, five‑bathroom residence, which includes a boathouse, rooftop entertainment area, outdoor kitchen, terrace and spa, overlooks Pittwater and Scotland Island. Records show the Blackmores purchased the existing two‑storey dwelling on the site for $5.7 million in 2023. Approved development application plans later authorised demolition of that house and construction of a new three‑storey home, with estimated construction costs of almost $1.1 million.
What the report adds
The SMH notes that the Blackmores were inspired by a renovation on their neighbouring Bayview property, which was undertaken with architect Walter Barda of Walter Barda Design and builder Peter Schooley of Touchstone Construction Group. Caroline Blackmore told the outlet the couple never intended to live in the three‑bedroom house and described the project as “stress‑free” and “unique”.
What was said
“They were responsible for our nearby home. It was a big project, but the whole process was seamless and a joy,” Caroline Blackmore said to the SMH.
“Once again, this project has been stress‑free, and we are thrilled with the outcome. It’s such a unique property,” she added.
How it came about
The Blackmores’ main residence, which remains unsold, sits on the same street. That earlier dwelling was bought for $9.25 million in 2016 from Matthew Gilmore, co‑founder of OzForex. The Blackmores also own a second Bayview home that is not for sale. Marcus Blackmore, who led Blackmores from 1975 until 2017 and held an 18 percent stake at the time of its 2023 sale to Kirin for $1.88 billion, collected a reported $344 million from that transaction.
