Augustus Minerals defines two higher‑grade gold shoots near Leonora

The company combined recent drilling, assays and soil sampling to outline western and eastern shoots, both open along strike.

Augustus Minerals said it has identified at least two higher‑grade gold shoots at its Music Well project in Western Australia’s Leonora‑Laverton gold district, according to a company release on Oct. 1.

What happened

The western shoot is defined by soil samples over 400 m of strike, while the eastern zone is traced by pathfinder geochemistry over 300 m. Both shoots remain open to the north‑northeast at the Clifton East prospect.

What the reports add

The company highlighted historic RC drill hits, including 11 m at 2.41 g/t Au from 32 m, 8 m at 3.27 g/t Au from 72 m and 34 m at 0.83 g/t Au from 38 m. Recent diamond drilling returned lower‑grade assays – 6 m at 0.31 g/t Au from 79 m, 5 m at 0.43 g/t Au from 106 m and 12 m at 0.22 g/t Au from 117 m – but the core showed alteration that suggests proximity to a larger mineralised zone.

What was said

Andrew Ford, general manager of exploration at Augustus Minerals, said, “Integration of surface geochemistry, RC and Diamond drilling data has outlined two higher‑grade shoots within the broader alteration system that are open to the north‑northeast.”

How it came about

Augustus’s work builds on earlier RC drilling at the Clifton East prospect and follows its September 17 report on St Patrick’s Well, where the company pursued a 30 g/t surface grade target. The new structural understanding will guide a series of northwest‑oriented RC holes, with assay results expected in mid to late October.
