Apple TV+ recorded its highest weekly viewership ever for the week of 14 September, a 67% rise year‑over‑year, after a flurry of Emmy wins and new releases, according to Deadline.
The platform celebrated a record 29 Emmy trophies, including 14 for the drama Widow’s Bay, and benefited from the return of Slow Horses and the premieres of Mayday and the fourth season of Ted Lasso.
Released straight‑to‑streaming on 4 September, Mayday became Apple TV’s biggest film debut, drawing 8.7 million U.S. viewers in its opening week and ranking No. 1 in Luminate’s weekly charts. It held a strong position the following week, falling to No. 2.
In the U.K. and other markets, Widow’s Bay saw a 280% week‑over‑week surge after the Emmys, while Pluribus experienced a 200% jump following six of its own awards.
Apple’s expansion of iCloud+ to include Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade in more than 100 countries, adding 170 markets in total, may also have contributed to the viewership lift.
