Andy Dalton faces rare 0‑for‑1 season after Eagles release him

Dalton's lone pass, an interception in a Week 3 loss, may make him the seventh QB to end a season 0‑for‑1 if he sees no more action.

Backup quarterback Andy Dalton was released by the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 9, 2026, after his sole pass attempt this season resulted in an interception during the Week 3 27‑7 loss to the Chicago Bears.

According to the Associated Press’s Josh Dubow, the interception occurred on a red‑zone drive while starter Jalen Hurts was undergoing a concussion check. If Dalton does not play again, he would join a six‑player group that finished a season 0‑for‑1, most recently Feleipe Franks in 2021.

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer linked Dalton’s release to roster space needs, noting the veteran could return on the practice squad. The Eagles had traded a seventh‑round pick to acquire Dalton and had previously promoted Tanner McKee to the backup role.
