Philadelphia released veteran quarterback Andy Dalton on Friday, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, as the team battles a wave of injuries.
Dalton, who was acquired from the Panthers in March, made a single appearance in Week 3, throwing an interception in a 27‑7 loss to the Bears. He was later passed on the depth chart by rookie Tanner McKee, who was named the backup for Week 4 against the Rams.
The move frees a roster spot while the Eagles cope with injuries to right tackle Lane Johnson, who retired, and key offensive weapons Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith and Tank Bigsby, all ruled out.
