Apple to greet US iPhone Duo buyers by name on first boot
In‑store US buyers of the iPhone Duo will see a name‑based greeting on the device’s initial setup screen, exclusive to the model and supporting English and Spanish.

Apple plans to personalize the first‑boot screen of the iPhone Duo for customers who purchase the phone at a United States Apple Store, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman said.
When the iPhone Duo launches on October 23, retail staff will use a system that inserts the buyer’s name into the startup greeting, so the device will display a message such as “Hello, Mark” the first time it is turned on. The feature is limited to the iPhone Duo, to US stores, and will support both English and Spanish.
Apple has not disclosed how the personalization will be applied, though it may rely on the Presto system that lets store employees activate sealed iPhones. Pre‑orders start on October 16, with deliveries and in‑store availability beginning on launch day.
