Delhi Capitals have announced that former India all‑rounder Yuvraj Singh will serve as assistant and batting coach for the 2027 Indian Premier League season, reuniting him with head coach Sourav Ganguly, who took over the role earlier this month, Gulf News reported on 13 October 2026.
The franchise marked Singh’s arrival with a video featuring Ganguly delivering a "Tiger" message about leadership, fearlessness and belief. The video caption read: "A champion. A leader. A Tiger." Ganguly’s remarks included, "Tigers aren't defined by their victories alone. A tiger leads. A tiger inspires. And above all, a tiger never stops believing."
Singh, 44, said he looks forward to teaming up with "Dada" in a coaching capacity, adding that he is passionate about coaching and eager to work with the talented squad. This will be Singh’s first formal coaching assignment, although he has previously mentored players such as Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill.
Singh’s return to Delhi is also a homecoming; he played for the Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) in IPL 2015 after being signed for a record Rs 16 crore, the highest IPL fee at the time. He scored 248 runs in 14 matches that season before leaving the franchise. The Capitals have yet to win an IPL title, though they reached the final in 2020, and hope the combined experience of Ganguly and Singh will boost their chances.
