The Western Cape’s Department of Infrastructure announced a R73.6 million programme to restore flood‑damaged roads near George and Plettenberg Bay, with completion targeted for March 2027, weather permitting.

The project will repair 10 km of the MR355 (Seven Passes) road and three district roads (DR1602, DR1633, DR1639). Work includes replacing five failed culverts with concrete pipes, reinforcing slips with piling, earth, gabion and stone walls, and installing larger‑diameter drainage pipes. One failed causeway on each district road will be replaced, with a bridge planned for DR1602 after environmental approval.
