On Friday, October 17, devotees flocked to the Indrakeeladri hill in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, to see Goddess Kanaka Durga in the form of Sri Saraswati Devi on the auspicious Moola Nakshatram, according to an ANI feed reported by News18.
The deity, described as wearing white and holding a veena, Vedas and akshamala, blessed the crowd as part of the Dasara Sharannavaratri festivities. To prioritize common devotees, all queue lines were turned into free darshan lines and all protocol, recommendation‑based, VIP and Antaralayam darshans were cancelled for the day. Devotees were allowed to view the deity from the Mukha Mandapam to keep the flow continuous.
Temple officials deployed about 5,000 staff and 3,500 police personnel, supported by 450 CCTV cameras monitored from a central command room. A crowd‑prediction system using real‑time railway and bus arrivals helped regulate queues, and water, buttermilk, milk, biscuits and annaprasadam were provided continuously. Special rituals such as Lalitha Sahasranama Parayanam, Saraswati Puja and Aksharabhyasam were performed during the Saraswati Alankaram ceremony.
