New Delhi – The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Tuesday condemned Telangana chief minister A. Revanth Reddy’s remarks that portrayed Lord Ram as the “God of the rich” and Lord Shiva as the “God of the poor,” calling the comments “the most despicable attack on the Hindu faith.”
Reddy made the statements at a media‑organised conclave in Delhi, adding that the BJP is a party of the rich and that the Congress succeeds only in southern states while struggling in the north because the BJP has “stolen Lord Ram.”
VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal posted on X that the Congress has, over 76 years, “made every effort to divide Hindu society” and that equating Ram with wealth and Shiva with poverty is an attempt to split Hindu deities. He also referenced past Congress positions, alleging attempts to “eradicate Sanatan Dharma” and questioning the existence of Lord Ram in the Supreme Court.
Bansal urged the Congress high command to apologise for what he described as an “attack on Hindu faith for the sake of appeasement politics.”
