UAE diplomatic adviser Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash said the recent visit of Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman to Abu Dhabi reaffirmed the depth of the two countries’ security partnership.
What happened
On Sunday, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met Prince Khalid bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s defence minister, at the presidential palace in Abu Dhabi. Also present were Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
What the reports add
Gargash posted on X that the meeting highlighted “our security and destiny are shared” and called the partnership “one of the pillars of Gulf stability and prosperity.” He added that the “wisdom of both leaderships” during “difficult times” is the strongest response to any sceptics.
What was said
“The successful visit of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman and his meeting with His Highness the UAE President, may God protect him, reaffirm the depth and enduring strength of UAE‑Saudi relations,” Gargash said, Gulf News reported.
He also said the partnership is rooted in “shared interests, mutual trust and the wisdom of the two countries' leadership.”
How it came about
The meeting follows a series of high‑level Saudi‑UAE contacts, including a September 30 summit in Riyadh that addressed Yemen policy, and recent regional tensions after Saudi drone interceptions and missile launches. Felo’s earlier coverage linked these diplomatic moves to broader Gulf stability efforts.
