UAE Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi announced on Thursday that a team of public prosecutors will examine the cockpit fight on Flydubai flight FZ1073, which was diverted from Dubai to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, after a co‑pilot allegedly stabbed the captain.

The flight, carrying 174 passengers and crew, was en route to Tel Aviv when the incident occurred. State news agency WAM reported that Al Shamsi said UAE law applies to crimes committed on board an Emirati‑registered aircraft, even if the event happens outside the country’s territory.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he spoke with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who agreed that Israel would join the interrogation of the suspect. Netanyahu praised Indian pilot Smit Machchhar and the passengers for preventing a catastrophe.
