Two Irish Residents Charged with Perjury Over Conor McGregor Appeal

The pair were remanded on bail until November 9 following accusations of false statements in the appeal process.

Samantha O’Reilly, 38, and Steven Cummins, 39, appeared before Dublin District Court on Tuesday morning and were charged with perjury for allegedly giving false statements in judicial proceedings related to Conor McGregor's civil appeal.

The charges stem from affidavits they submitted on McGregor's behalf during his appeal against a jury finding that he sexually assaulted Nikita Hand. Irish police investigated the evidence, and the director of public prosecutions was alerted to possible perjury.

Both O’Reilly and Cummins were arrested at their home in Cherry Orchard Green, Ballyfermot, and remanded on continuing bail until 9 November. The appeal itself was abandoned by McGregor’s legal team, who withdrew the new evidence at the last moment, a move described by Mr Justice O’Moore as "mysterious".

Hand, who successfully sued McGregor in a civil court, was awarded €248,603.60 in damages and McGregor was ordered to pay roughly €1.3 million in legal costs.
