On Tuesday, Judge Maria Cavalluzzi in Los Angeles County Court ruled that Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 36, of Orlando, Florida, is mentally competent to stand trial for a March shooting at the Beverly Hills‑area home of singer Rihanna and rapper A$AP Rocky. Ortiz, who has pleaded not guilty, faces 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three counts of shooting at an occupied vehicle or dwelling, according to court documents.

Police say Ortiz drove a Tesla to the property on 8 March, pointed an AR‑15‑style rifle out the window and fired at least 20 bullets toward the house and a neighbouring residence. Investigators found bullet holes in an Airstream trailer that the couple were inside and on the exterior wall of a nursery where their three children were with a nanny. No one was injured.

During a brief hearing, the judge accepted psychiatric evaluations that found Ortiz mentally fit to stand trial, although the details of those evaluations remain sealed. Ortiz was returned to the regular criminal court process, which had been suspended shortly after it began, and was ordered to report for a hearing on Wednesday.

Ortiz told investigators after her arrest that she was not attempting murder. She has no prior police record and had worked as a licensed speech pathologist for more than a decade. Prosecutors and police have not disclosed a motive or any connection between Ortiz and the singer.
