The company cited extremely challenging market conditions and a specialist administrator has been appointed.

True Brit Entertainment, a UK theatrical distributor launched in November 2023 by former Lionsgate UK & Europe CEO Zyzy Kamasa, filed for administration on September 30, 2026, according to Variety.

What happened

The company entered the UK legal process similar to Chapter 11 bankruptcy after a series of under‑performing releases, including "The Death of Robin Hood" which earned under $800,000, and the recent "Sunny Dancer" starring Bella Ramsey.

What the reports add

Variety noted that the distributor had initially aimed to release 4‑8 titles a year and co‑finance over $50 million of productions, backed by talent‑management firm Three Six Zero and a minority stake from Matthew Vaughn’s Marv Studios. The outlet listed earlier successes such as "The Critic" and the Danny Dyer comedy "Marching Powder," which grossed more than $4 million in the UK and Ireland, contrasting with later titles that struggled.

What was said

"In extremely challenging market conditions, the company has taken the difficult decision to enter administration," Kamasa said in a statement to Variety.

He added that an independent specialist has been appointed to oversee the company and assess options for creditors.

How it came about

True Brit was announced in November 2023 with a focus on UK‑only theatrical releases, seeking to invest in and release multiple titles annually. Funding was led by Three Six Zero, which represents artists such as Calvin Harris and Frank Ocean, and included a minority investment from Marv Studios. Despite an ambitious launch, the distributor faced a tough market, leading to its current administration filing.
