Hangtime International Pictures and Severin Films announced a strategic partnership to remake Lucio Fulci’s 1981 horror film The Beyond, according to a Variety press release dated Oct. 8, 2026.

The deal secures English‑language remake rights for the Italian classic, the second entry in Fulci’s Gates of Hell trilogy, and marks the first project in a planned slate of genre remakes slated for the next two years.

Frank Murray, co‑CEO of Hangtime, said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to horror fans and aims to modernise the film as an experiential horror experience while leveraging the built‑in sequel potential of the Gates of Hell universe. David Gregory, co‑founder and CEO of Severin Films, highlighted the company’s two‑decade history of restoring genre titles and expressed excitement about bringing the classic to a new generation.

The agreement was brokered by Severin’s Italian correspondent Manlio Gomarasca and RTI Mediaset International sales manager Claudia Marra, who obtained the remake rights on behalf of both companies.
