Variety reported that 67% of Netflix members worldwide expressed interest in traveling to South Korea, a finding presented by Sung Q Lee, Netflix’s senior director of APAC production, at the opening masterclass of Creative Asia on Oct. 10.
The masterclass, co‑hosted by Netflix and the 31st Busan International Film Festival, took place at Dongseo University’s Centum Campus and was developed with the Asian Film Commissions Network and the Motion Picture Association.
Location manager Lauren Cooper explained she first reads scripts as an audience member before assessing location needs, emphasizing flexibility in filmmaking. Co‑producer Kunieda Reiko, quoting Wim Wenders, warned that artificial storytelling can ruin a film, and stressed that location and narrative are inseparable.
