Telangana to Issue Bhudhar Cards to Farmers After Dasara

The distribution will follow the first phase of a state‑wide land resurvey covering 285 villages.

Hyderabad – Telangana’s revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced that the state will begin handing out Bhudhar cards to agricultural landowners after the Dasara festival, according to Deccan Chronicle. The launch will take place in his Palair constituency, where the resurvey of 285 revenue villages has just been completed.

The government plans to finish a comprehensive land resurvey across all 10,954 revenue villages in three phases, aiming to set precise boundaries for every parcel, clarify ownership rights and provide a permanent solution to land disputes. Notices have already been issued to landowners in the surveyed villages, inviting objections.

Each Bhudhar card will carry a unique 14‑digit identification number, similar to Aadhaar, to improve transparency in land records. The state has approved tenders for an additional 400 rovers, on top of the 411 currently in use, to speed up the survey. Modern tools such as DGPS, GIS and QGIS are replacing traditional chains and tapes, and the data will be uploaded to the Bhu Bharati portal.

Telangana’s land‑survey database has grown from about 40 lakh survey numbers in 1948 to 2.29 crore today. The minister said the effort is part of a vision to make Telangana “free from land disputes.” The first‑phase villages were selected from 2,720 villages across 32 districts, excluding Hyderabad, with 70 villages earmarked per district. The rollout follows the Dasara holidays that began on Oct 10.
