Summer Walker sues Love Renaissance over alleged YouTube and Amazon revenue theft
The Atlanta judge faces a claim that the label diverted streaming and merchandise money and locked the artist into an oppressive contract.

R&B singer Summer Walker has filed a 10‑page lawsuit in Atlanta seeking to void her contract with Love Renaissance (LVRN) and alleging fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract. The complaint, obtained by Rolling Stone, says LVRN misappropriated money from her touring, recording, marketing and merchandising budgets and denied her revenue from Amazon and YouTube pages that used her name and likeness.
What happened
The suit, filed on Aug. 28 but made public on Oct. 13, claims LVRN locked Walker into an "onerous" agreement that gave the label extensive rights and controlling influence. Walker alleges the label operated a YouTube channel in her name without her knowledge, later deleting its historical data and transferring control to her while keeping any generated revenue. She also says LVRN sold merchandise bearing her name on Amazon and other retail sites without sharing proceeds.
What the reports add
Rolling Stone notes that Walker’s attorney, Keith Moten, described the contract as "particularly oppressive and extensive" and said the label breached its fiduciary duties "so severely as to cause a breach of the agreement by defendant." The complaint also alleges LVRN charged excessive company expenses to Walker’s accounts in bad faith. Moten emphasized that Walker’s primary goal is to end the contractual relationship, though the lawsuit also seeks damages for the alleged breaches.
What was said
"Summer is in a new phase of her life," Moten told Rolling Stone. "She’s been through a lot in her life, personally and professionally. She’s a mother now, and she doesn’t trust blindly anymore. She’s ready to fight for herself, her freedom and her peace." He added, "Most importantly, we also have very strong legal grounds for the court to order Summer’s release from her deal with LVRN as well." The filing itself states, "Defendant has breached its fiduciary duties of good faith and fair dealing so severely as to cause a breach of the agreement by defendant."
How it came about
Walker signed with LVRN at age 19 and later entered a joint venture with Interscope Records. Earlier this month, Felo News reported that Interscope had sued Walker for $50 million over an alleged breach of a seven‑year contract, while Walker invoked California’s seven‑year statute to terminate that deal. The current lawsuit adds a separate claim that LVRN, the label that originally signed her, also violated the agreement and concealed earnings from digital platforms.
